Six Steps to Start a Blog
1. What is blogging?
Blogging is writing short articles or postings that are published online. Blogs are very similar to websites in that they can contain text, images, videos, audio, and links. Blogs are also very different from websites because they are written by a single person rather than a team of people. The person who owns the blog is called the “blogger.” To learn more about blogging and what it is read best kept blogging secrets and you’ll get a really good feel for it.
2. How do I start my blog/ website?
The first step to getting started with a blog is to create a domain name. A domain name is the address of your blog. For example, if you want to have a blog about baseball, you would type “baseball.blogspot.com.” This is called a “dot com” address.
It is very important to buy a domain name (website) to maintain control over your content and it’s very inexpensive you can do this for as little as $3. There are many free sites where you can find domain names, Godaddy is the easiest and most versatile to start with.
3. What should I write about?
Once you have a domain name you can now begin writing. The best way to start is to write about something that you know a lot about. This is called a Niche. This will make your blog easier to write and more interesting to read. Your hobbies or a talent you have can also be a great place to start. 4. How do I promote my blog?
After you have started your blog, the next step is to promote it. One of the best ways to promote your blog is to write an article that relates to your blog topic and add some SEO and submit it to article directories (you can find these on google).
Submit your blog to social networking sites like Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook. These sites allow you to put up a profile and then invite friends to join. Once you have posted your blog on these sites, you can encourage your friends and business contacts to visit your blog /website by sending them updates when you post new information.
SEO is very important to promote your blog to Google and others. You’ll never be found in directories if you are not listed so promote with good SEO always! Make sure to check out the article on how to improve your SEO rankings as go along in beginning your blog.
5. Where can I learn more about blogging?
Pinterest is a great place to learn about business. You can find many resources on how to build your niche the way you want to. You can also check out the blogs of people who have already started their own blogs by learning to do what they have done to be successful. Many people use blog hosting services, such as Godaddy, Showit, WIX, and WordPress, to set up their blogs.
6. How can I make money from my blog?
You can make money from your blog in a number of ways. One way is to sell advertising space on your blog through Google AdSense to start. After you have regular traffic of 50,000 or more page views a day you want to look into Medialine whose ads will generate an avg of $2000 and up per month.
Another way is to create a membership site and charge monthly fees. You can also use affiliate programs to sell your services, such as Amazon’s Associate’s Program, Fiverr, or ClickBank to earn money when someone purchases an item from one of your links.
You can also partner with different types of affiliate programs that best match your niche. If you really struggle with the art of selling products or it is too time-consuming to do, The 12-minute affiliate program might be the best program for you, you do have to purchase it but it saves thousands of hours marketing, and believe me it’s a blessing to have and pays for itself.
Lastly don’t forget to use social media, Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook to help build your traffic and send them to your blog/website. It will take about three months of daily posting to social media but you should be able to build 50,000 by then.
